Muchos creen que el Core, también llamado Núcleo, son simplemente los músculos abdominales. En realidad el Core abarca la musculatura de todo el tronco, de hecho forma una especie de corset o cilindro allí. Tomando como referencia al Profesor @arielcouceirogonzalez (recomiendo leer todo lo que  y escribe  y en relación al entrenamiento) y su gran explicacion para explicar la formación cilíndrica constituida por el sistema intrínseco entendemos que el Core tiene como techo al diafragma, al piso pelvico, como piso justamente, la pared constituida por el transverso abdominal y cerrado por atrás por el músculo multifidus a nivel de la columna vertebral. .
Ahora bien, ya sabemos que el Core no son simplemente los abdominales, pero ¿Para que sirve? Básicamente para transferir fuerza desde los trenes (inferior y superior). Por ejemplo un golpe de boxeo claramente no se realiza solo con el brazo, sino que el tren inferior, transfiere las fuerzas, a través del core, al tren superior para generar la potencia necesaria del golpe. Por esto es importante entrenar la estabilidad del Núcleo.
