🌙i get nervous about the upcoming generation of men to lead this country? all of whom will [undoubtedly] carry a disproportionate amount of power over their female contemporaries due to the institutionalized nature of sexism in this country?
i muse over it often, trying to stay aware of my power and privilege...
and with that awareness,
i have to ask myself all the time: what kind of man do i want to be?
though spontaneous by nature and adventurous to a fault,
i have always been the opposite when it come to my artwork;
methodical and calculated,
no line astray,
no color left without compliment;
such perfectionism is expected of men in all annals of life,
the "man-child" reviled and the 9-to-5 exalted,
a boy like me has
N E V E R
been able to apply this order to any vestige of American life...
I'm just too primal, Wild, and free...
A living bastion of feeling and empathy,
In a culture that tells it's men they can feel only
L U S T
A N G E R,
the complex web of human emotion judged so harshly it's as if it is a sin to feel so much... This fracturing, then, isa symptom of the American animus spiraling out of control,
it's anima left unspoken for... and so i stopped planning so much,
relying so much on order and control,
and just started painting...
i let the ether flow through me,
from mind to heart to paintbrush,
and in new shades of feeling,
i painted some of the best work of my "artistic career"
[or whatever you'd call what I'm doing these days]
and though this isn't my favorite piece work,
it exemplifies the goal of my most recent endeavors:
to leave behind an America more open to what we feel than the thoughts that limit us🇺🇸✨ #art #artist #artwork #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #artists #watercolor #paint #painter #painting #paintings #instaart #instagood #instagram #instaartist #politics #gender #feminism #diary #journal #thoughts #feelings #whatkindofmandoyouwanttobeamerica? #satan #666
