Explore ecoage's Instagram #repost @guardian - The Kenyan garments sector remains relatively small, with just 40,000 workers according to a report commissioned by development organisation Hivos.
But if the African Development Bank gets its way, this is set to change. In 2015 it launched the Fashionomics initiative, an online business platform designed to boost small businesses in the fashion and textile industry.
The bank believes the sector could generate 400,000 jobs in sub-Saharan Africa by 2025. For these jobs to be sustainable, the region will need to break away from the model the fashion industry has pursued elsewhere in the world and which has already done damage in Kenya, according to Nicola Round, campaigns manager at UK-based Labour Behind the Label.

Hello Instagrammers, meet Khadija Ally...the founder and Managing Director of Haiba ya Afrika company Ltd, the producer and supplier of asaliyabibi.

Ms. Khadija graduated from University of Dar es salaam famously UDSM with BA in Education and also she is a diploma holder of Mozambique - Tanzania Centre for Foreign Relations. Thus Ms. Ally is both a professional teacher and Diplomat nowhere near entrepreneurs.

She started Asaliyabibi from her findings that Tanzania being among lead producer of honey, we still can't make better, clean and quality honey products. So she iniatiated an idea of asaliyabibi partly to honour african women who their economic struggles go unnoticed. Today, Khadija holds three recognitions..malkia wa nguvu presented by @cloudstv in the category of agribusiness, Amana bank's women entrepreneurs award and recently Tanzania Private Sector Foundation award as Top 50 brands in #Tanzania.

Yes it is possible for a teacher to be entrepreneurs, that you can be anything if you put ur "FOCUS" on it and work hard believing in yourself, select well your partners and give them all your trust unless they give you a reason to mistrust them. Explore she_inspires_her's Instagram Chelsea Evans is co-founder of Plan My Wedding, South Africa’s first online wedding planning resource allowing couples anywhere in the world to plan their entire wedding in Southern Africa.
Soft spoken, yet fun-loving and energetic, Chelsea is a humble and hard working individual. Originally from Zimbabwe, she launched Plan My Wedding after she learned coding (pretty cool, right?) and decided to combine her newly earned skills with her background in branding, events and wedding planning to create an online platform allowing couples to organise their own wedding. She teamed up with co-founder Jason Newmark to realise the unique platform.

Chelsea lives life completely, honestly and compassionately – with a healthy dose of reality and creative imagination. Her advice to those starting up? “Have patience! What is meant to be will be. Don’t ever give up on what you believe in throughout your journey.” This go-getter credits her success to three critical factors:
- a positive mental attitude – she is constantly pushing herself and learning from her mistakes;
- self-education and improvement – Chelsea attends lots of networking events and takes advantage of free courses and learning opportunities;
- securing investors in the Shark Tank TV series in 2016. The Plan My Wedding team raised $29K in funding aftering pitching on the show. They are very excited for what’s to come.

The duo bonded over a shared love for writing and freelancing and have been friends ever since. “It was funny to us that we both studied accounting in university, and now have absolutely no enthusiasm to pursue it! We noticed that we think similarly about a lot of things and decided to go into business together.” Kelechi and Tolu launched Skrife – an online platform that helps entrepreneurs, brands, digital agencies and startups create consistent quality content by leveraging on an exclusive community of vetted freelance writers and editors – while participating in the S Factory, a spin-off from the Start-Up Chile program. They were one of two African startups accepted into the first generation of the S Factory and received $15,000 in equity-free funding.

As of today, they’ve completed over 150 requests for 20+ clients from 7 countries, including the United States, Australia, Nigeria, Ghana and Mauritius. Some brands currently using Skrife include African Leadership University, Paystack, Ingressive, Tress and Start Smart.
