PRAYER PROMPT ••• Since Jesus’ ascension, every generation has believed they were living in the end times. But I believe ours has far more claim to that than any other. In 2 Timothy 3:1-4, Paul’s letter outlined what people in the end times would be like, “You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.” Sounds like the evening news, doesn’t it?? This description is evident everywhere we turn! I know that Jesus’ return to rapture His church is imminent. And the truth is, it scares me. Not because I’m worried about being left behind, but because there are people I love and care about who will be. I cannot imagine the fear and chaos that will reign in the aftermath of the rapture, and the idea of people I love being in the middle of it terrifies me. I admit, I get a little upset when people pray, “Come back soon, Jesus.” As much as I look forward to seeing my Savior, there are some people I really want to take with me, so for that reason alone, I’m not ready yet. I pray for more time. I pray for another great revival to sweep through the world and give more souls the opportunity to turn their lives over to Jesus. How do you feel about all of this? Do you think we are living in the end times? Are you ready? Are people you love ready? 1 Thessalonians 5:2 says, “For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.” It is coming and I know the joy and peace of that moment will be all-consuming. But I long for others to share that experience with me. Today, as you pray, pray for those who aren’t ready. Ask the Holy Spirit to pour out a spirit of revival throughout the world so that when Jesus does return, more will be prepared.
