“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your saints shall bless you! They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power, to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. [The Lord is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.]” - Psalms 145:8-13 (ESV)

We are ready for new possibilities! Are you?
At Door to Grace, we care for young survivors of commercial sexual exploitation by providing a safe place with all the qualities of home and family along with secure and thriving mentoring relationships.
A few things you may not know about us; • We are currently serving survivors in Portland + Seattle. • We do not rescue youth right off of the street, but partner with our local social service community for referrals of minors who might thrive in our loving and personalized care. • Our mentors are trained, trauma-informed and committed for the hard road ahead. We are there in court supporting a girl when she testified against her trafficker. • Our doors are now open for more referrals and mentoring. We cannot wait to meet our next bright, beautiful, hurting Grace Girl. We are praying for her now. • We love to visit churches and small groups to tell our story and see what we can do together.

“Once we were in the room alone, then my nightmare began. He called me over to the desk he was sitting in and grabbed my hands and said, “Finally, we can be together, my darling.” I felt a pit forming in my stomach and my breathing quicken as I stood there in shock. I was like a fox trapped in a cage. I wanted to run out of there but I was so scared. I was in a foreign country. He had asked for my passport upon landing at the airport and held my plane ticket. I didn’t know where I would go or how I would be able to leave the country. I tried to play it cool. I pulled my hands away and said, “I have to go get some snacks from the lobby. I’ll be right back.” My heart was thudding hard in my chest as I ran around trying to figure out how to get out of the situation. But then I thought, maybe I was reading into it. Maybe he didn’t mean it the way I thought. Minutes turned into hours before I finally went back into the room. I had decided that if I got in late, then he’d already be asleep. My plan was to wake up early and go for a jog so that I would be gone before he woke up. I thought if I could just make it through the next two days without being alone with him in the room, then we could get back on the plane and I would be free of him once we landed in Seoul.”
Hi beauties! Enid here. I haven’t shared this story publicly until now and although it happened years ago, I felt strongly that it would help someone (link in bio). Sexual assault and harassment is never ok. But the good news is that with Jesus Christ, forgiveness is possible. This is my story of finding forgiveness towards someone I trusted and believed had good intentions for me as his pupil. It was years of rage, distrust, depression, anxiety and emptiness before Jesus came into my life and set me free slowly. And if he could help me forgive my assailant, I know He can help you too. To all of my sisters out there who have experienced this darkness and are saying #metooI am proud to stand with you and praying that you will find total healing and freedom in Jesus if you haven’t already. #testimonythursday

Half the Sky says everything about why I believe women’s empowerment is a vital issue: “We hope to recruit you to join an incipient movement to emancipate women and fight global poverty by unlocking women’s power as economic catalysts. That is the process under way-not a drama of victimization but of empowerment...” #womensempowerment #genderequality #halfthesky #heforshe #wisdomwednesday
What's on your reading list this fall? Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn is a call to action through stories about women that hurt and inspire - it's become required reading for the whole Cora team. #corabookclub
“This past summer my husband and I went to one of our favorite trails at the Sleeping Giant State Park in Connecticut. We began are ascent to the top of the mountain with the anticipation of a gorgeous view in mind. With my body aching and adrenaline pumping, I remember getting to one point on the trail where all we could see was a straight wall of rocks. “Which way now?” I asked my husband. “There’s only one way to go and that’s up,” he said pointing towards the top of this monstrosity. I looked up, took a deep breath in, exhaled out and said, “Ok, let’s do this!” Step by step, little by little, I began to scale the side of this mountain. My thighs burning and sweat dripping, I just continued up. When I got to the very top, I looked back in amazement! “Wow! We did it!” This little hike taught me a valuable life lesson about commitment and resilience that I will never forget. That is, we might not face physical mountains on our pathways on a regular basis, but I know that we all encounter spiritual, emotional and mental mountains regularly. The beauty about resilience is that it’s not limited to physical endurance but also spiritual, emotional and mental perseverance. When I looked out at the view from the mountain top, I was reminded of how big, how great and how wonderful God truly is.
What awaits us when we push through life’s difficulties is far greater than anything we could experience by taking the easy path. This incredible parallel between life and hiking by @loriburgos is a must read. We pray you will be encouraged to keep going despite your desire to give up. He is with you and will sustain you every step of the way. (Link in bio) #wisdomwednesday
started reading this book at the same time as the "me too" posts started happening. such an incredible, but difficult read. although most of the stories are horrific and beyond anything I could imagine CURRENTLY happening all over the world, this book is incredibly eye opening and inspirational. theses stories NEED to be heard. thanks @mmarlborough for the book lend. #halfthesky #equality #womensrights #inspirational #booknerd #metoo

“At the age of six, my grandmother became an orphan after her father was shot in the line of police duty and her mother passed away from an illness. She was then raised by her aunt and uncle who often mistreated her and required her to do much of the grueling housework. When she was 16, she married an older man who turned out to be an abusive husband. The unhappy marriage ultimately ended in divorce after my grandmother found out about his several affairs with other women. Despite this, she forgave him just as God commands and always instructed us to do the same: “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).”
We love learning from strong women of faith who have gone before us and have set God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus as their prize so that they can endure their present sufferings. Read how @jamieballi learned what it means to be resilient through her grandmother’s life story (link in bio). We pray you too will be inspired!
We stand with the millions of women who have experienced some type of sexual harassment, abuse and assault in the workplace, at home, at school, and even at church. We thank God that what has been carried out in darkness for years and years is coming into the light of truth. And we are thankful for the courageous women (and men) who have come forward to speak up and no longer remain silent. Special thanks to @milano_alyssa for starting the #metoomovement when she tweeted: “If you've been sexually harassed or assaulted write 'me too' as a reply to this tweet."; and @bethmoorelpm for speaking up as a woman in ministry.
If you have never opened up about your experience and would like prayer, we are here for you. Just send us a DM or email. If you want to talk about it with someone to begin your healing process, we recommend finding a Christian counselor in your community. If you live in NYC, Redeemer and Hillsong have great resources on finding Christian counselors. Visit their websites for more info. #tiptuesday
Do you feel it? It’s happening... Women are rising to transform themselves and lift up those around them, refusing to remain victims and instead becoming survivors and changemakers in the world. Today we filmed at the @thegatesfoundation Discovery Center "Women Hold Up Half the Sky” exhibition, a place that shares the stories of women from around the world who are empowering themselves and others through microloans, education, healthcare for women and children, financial security and independence, stopping the cycles of abuse, and ending human trafficking.

If you don’t believe change is possible, take a look. These segments we are filming for the Women’s Empowerment Initiative are SO.POWERFUL. I can’t wait to share them with you. They are already transforming the lives of all of us involved... and we can’t wait to see what happens when we share them with you! ❤

It's important to change the minds of individuals but more important, yet arguably more difficult is to change the culture.

“Lord, you’re so kind and tenderhearted to those who don’t deserve it and so patient with people who fail you! Your love is like a flooding river overflowing its banks with kindness. You don’t look at us only to find our faults, just so that you can hold a grudge against us. You may discipline us for our many sins, but never as much as we really deserve. Nor do you get even with us for what we’ve done.” - Psalm 103:8-10 (tPT)
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.” - Psalm 103:8-10 (ESV)
Love that we have access to many translations of the Bible to get a more well-rounded perspective on Scripture. Pray we don’t take this luxury for granted when so many can barely get a Bible let alone full chapters of Scripture in certain parts of the world. And thankfully we follow a God who is gracious, merciful and loving when we don’t deserve it at all. Happy Monday!
