I premade 3 whole food meals with a veggie, protein and healthy fat base. If I were hungry between meals I'd grab fruit, nuts, seeds or leftovers as a snack. When I was hungry I ate. 
Everything was so simple. If it came in a box or a bag I didn't eat it. If my great great grand mother didn't make it for the family I didn't eat it. If the packaging had more than 5 ingredients I didn't eat it. If I couldn't pronounce one of the ingredients I didn't eat it.
