We are so proud of our friend @anaisa31 & her work with the Wayuu tribe in La Guajira, the deserted region of Colombia.
 :::
An area rich with culture, long preserved by the matrilineal Wayuu tribe, since 150AD.
Known as the sun, sand and wind people, the Wayuu have long fought to protect their lands, heritage & traditions against the Spanish Inquisition, government control, and today, multinational greed in the form of one of the largest open coal mines in the world - El Carrejón.
They are now fighting for their survival, deprived of basic human rights, from water contamination, air pollution & subsequent malnutrition.
:::
The Wayuu are just one example, of indigenous land protectors of Air, Earth & Water, around the world. While the richest and most powerful drive our society to destruction, it is ironic that the so called 'least advanced' people are taking the lead in protecting us all. :::

All of our Soul Seed Gathering work is driven to promote, celebrate and honor indigenous peoples, and the Earth they care for - for all of us. We have a lot to learn!

For our Chapter 2 we are traveling to Colombia
First, in January, for our research & documentary expedition (contact us directly to apply, if interested in joining, as we have only a few spaces for this adventurous side of the project)

& in May 25th-30th, 2018 for our women's gathering - 'Heart of the Great Mother', a fully immersive cultural celebration, where all our proceeds go to supporting this work - to elevate and raise awareness for indigenous practices around the world, all through the lens of women.
Tickets available on the site (link in bio)

Explore rising_hearts's Instagram {Divest DC} #DivestTheGlobe day of action at DC City Council with Mazaska Talks and 35+ cities across North America, with more across the globe tomorrow! ✊

Standing Rock brought many people across the world, together. One of the calls for action that came from indigenous leaders, was a call for divestment. Divest from banking institutions that are funding dirty infrastructure projects, the Dakota Access Pipeline, Keystone XL, Potomac Pipeline, Enbridge, Kinder Morgan, Oak Flat and more! This movement for divestment, climate justice and elevating awareness of Indigenous Rights, so another Standing Rock doesn’t happen, led Rising Hearts to be a co-founding partner of D.C. ReInvest Coalition: we got a resolution introduced on March 21st with 6 out of 13 co-sponsors, got a Public Banking Feasibility Study into FY18 budget and we testified at the budget finance hearing for DC. We are not stopping. •
•
It's absolutely critical for Indigenous People's to have a voice and be included in discussions concerning climate and policy discussions. We have the right to decide whether a pipeline should be built, or any other infrastructure projects, that may be built on or near Tribal lands. On this day, October 23rd, 92 of the world's largest banks will be meeting in San Paolo to discuss just these issues, especially Indigenous People's right to Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC). Cities and country's are divesting from banks. This is one way to decrease our carbon footprint.
•
•
Please help us on continuing to pressure DC City Council to divest from Wells Fargo, and to reinvest in the community. Couldn’t be more proud of this group and excited to continue divestment efforts! ✊ (: @bmcushing ) #DCReInvest #DivestmentWorks #RisingHearts #MazaskaTalks #IndigenousRights #DivestTheGlobe #NoMorePipelines #HonorTheTreaties #PutThePeopleFirst #ReInvestInTheCommunity 1632161350573090513_4695273306

Papua New Guinea: Portrait of a Foi tribesman at Lake Kutubu, Southern Highlands. ----------------------------------------------------
Nowadays colonialism is boosted by capitalism and consumerism, and it tends to ravage everything that lies in its path. Greed and abuse have too often been unnecessary and unenlightened. Too many cultures have been forced to move out of their ancestral lands, only to be replaced by industries and agribusiness. Indigenous cultures abide to spiritual and natural laws - often known as sacred ecology - that keep them in tune with the natural world, the self, and all that goes on around them. Whereas we struggle to find satisfaction, serenity, and knowledge of self, they thrive.

Explore judah_elise's Instagram "Native Americans are 2.5 times more likely to be the victims of sexual assault and rape than any other ethnic group in the United States" according to a study conducted by the Department of Justice in 1999 and that rate has only increased since, corroborated by multiple studies from a variety of agencies and NGO's. 56 percent of Native women in the U.S. have been the victims of sexual violence; 90 percent have experienced physical violence from a non-tribal member. A major reason for this is a loophole in the law that allows non-tribal people to commit sexual assault/rape on reservations with no legal recourse. Tribes cannot prosecute non-tribal members, even if the offense was committed on their lands. Additionally, prosecutable offenses such as stalking are rarely enforced outside the reservation, meaning a victim of domestic or sexual violence who is afforded a restraining order is left vulnerable to their abuser the second they leave the reservation border. It's 2017. Our indigenous people deserve better than this. Our women deserve better than this. Knowledge is the first step. #metoo #nativeamerican #nativepride #indigenousrights #changethelaw 1632120931918808341_3275198202
