"When darkness is thick/ I feel so alone/ like I'm on my own/ I tend to forget/ that shadows mean light/ no matter how low/no matter how far/ a shadow can go/ so reach for the sun/ reach for the moon/ shine like a star/ I'll meet you there soon/ cause shadows mean light/ no matter how low/ no matter how far/ a shadow can go..." -Marv Ellis .
It has been tough here, the past few weeks. I have been uninspired and couldn't be bothered to take photos. I knew the spark would flicker again, just have to wait it out with the knowledge that you might eventually have to kick yourself in the ass to get moving along again. So I endure long sleepless nights and dreary, delirious days. All the while trying to stay focused among the chaos of day to day life: to remember the comfort that there is an endgame! A new path is on the horizon, glowing gold and waiting for us to arrive.
Currently still pondering which type of #vanlife #vanto purchase. Being able to stand up straight was not something I had considered, but now I find myself wondering, "IS that a necessity to me?" We will be mostly roadtripping and camping in our van at first, then possibly move in after a time. We will see! So what ARE necessities to us?! So the thoughts are... will it last, is it durable and will it be in our lives for years or will it crap out after a few hearty ones? Does one fork out the big bucks and buy new, to hopefully avoid roadside assistance issues, or spend without getting a loan, buy privately and then have a vehicle that, more likely than not, requires maintenance? So many things to consider! Like, the potential extra passengers, or the ability to go off roading with a 4x4 or AWD?
We want to be able to cook, eat, and sleep in our van. Possibly compost toilet if big enough, but that is more of a 'want' than a 'need.'
So, obviously we are still on the hunt, with more questions then answers, and our noses in the papers, internet browsers, and craiglist ads, and when it feels impossible, or as if it will never happen, the message that is sent back to me is always to Stop. Stop, look and listen. Everything is exactly as it should be. And then there's usually a rainbow involved. 👌🌈
